Are you interested in coming into the Catholic Church?

Do you want or need to receive one or all of the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist?

Do you simply want to learn more about the Church before making a more official step?

The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) may be for you.  OCIA is a process during which people learn and talk about the basics of the Church and Church teaching.

OCIA is for:

  • Non-baptized adults (someone at the age of 7 or above) who wants to be baptized into the Catholic faith as well as confirmed and receive their first Holy Communion.
  • Adults who have already been baptized in a Christian denomination and now want to become Catholic.
  • Baptized Catholic adults who have never received their first Holy Eucharist or have not been Confirmed.

When Can I start?

Whenever you are ready! We will walk with you through your journey, pair you with a sponsor, and work with you every step of the way.

When will i receive the sacraments?

Your journey to the Catholic Church can last as long as several years or for a shorter time. It depends on how God leads you on this journey. When you and the priest working with you believes you are ready to make a faith commitment to Jesus in the Catholic Church, your sacrament(s) are scheduled.

At the end of Lent, on the Saturday before Easter, the elect and the candidates are welcomed into full communion with Christ and his Church at the Easter Vigil. During the liturgy, the unbaptized will receive the Sacrament of Baptism and those who have not been confirmed will receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation. All will receive the Body and Blood of Christ in the Sacrament of the Eucharist.
