Campus Stations of the Cross | Friday, April 11 | 6:00 p.m.

All are invited to join the Duke Catholic Center community for campus Stations of the Cross this Friday beginning at 6:00 p.m. in front of the Page Auditorium. We will walk and pray around West Campus and conclude with a free fish fry at Zweli's.

Looking to serve families in the Durham community? The DCC will be cooking and serving food to families transitioning out of homelessness through Families Moving Forward (FMF). FMF is a local nonprofit that provides safe housing as well as enrichment programs to help families break the cycle of poverty. We will be praying for these families and cooking dinner on April 8 from 5-6:30 pm at the FAH. We will then be serving the food on April 9 from 4:30-6:30 pm. If you are interested in cooking or serving the food, sign up here!

ET RELIGIO SYMPOSIUM - April 9 | 6:30-8:30 p.m. | Fitzpatrick Atrium

At this semester’s et Religio Symposium, we’ll hear from three experts on the role of religion in the current Israel-Palestine conflict. Coming from Muslim, Jewish, and Christian backgrounds, these guests also bring expertise on political science, public policy, and religious leadership. We’ll examine ways that religion contributes to conflict as well as religious resources for peace and reconciliation.

Meeting over a meal, we aim to foster civil, constructive conversations about these complex issues, listening to diverse religious and nonreligious perspectives. No matter what you believe, you’re welcome at the table. RSVP by Wednesday, April 2: https://qr.link/5iGRKf

SHAKESPEARE, SEX, AND THE ART OF FRIENDSHIP - April 10 | 6:00 p.m. | Falcone-Arena House

Fr. Shawn Aaron, LC will share reflections based in classic literature and the heart of what it means to be human to help students navigate the difficult world of relationships. RSVP here.

We are excited to partner with NC State and UNC’s Catholic Centers to host a spring fling formal on April 12. It’s located at a farm about 20 minutes off campus and the dress code is formal, long dresses for women and suit and tie or jacket and khakis for men. Tickets are only $10 and you can find the link to purchase tickets at the door via Venmo. We hope to see you all there!

Are you studying abroad next semester? Interested in visiting the Eternal City during the Jubilee Year? Fr. Juan José will be in Rome the weekend of October 11-12 and would love to be your guide! After living in Rome for four years, Father knows the city well and will be sure you check out the best gelato and restaurants in the city -- along with visiting St. Peter's Basilica, the other three Major Basilicas, the Vatican Museums, and of course, walking around Rome. No RSVP is needed at this time; just collecting interested students! If this sounds like something you'd be interested in attending, let us know!

"Whatever seems lost, through faith and hope in God, we may discover new life beyond our imagination."

Fr. Juan José reminds us that God isn’t just improving the past in today's Fifth Sunday of Lent video reflection. God is creating something entirely new. In the dry, wounded places of our hearts, He pours out His grace, bringing renewal, healing, and hope.

Open your heart to His transformation and trust in the new life He is creating!

You can find Fr. Juan José's reflection along with a reflection on pilgrimage from Mary Wilson Screws, one of our FOCUS missionaries, on our YouTube channel and within the DCC App.

Discover our digital Pocket Companion for your Lenten journey nested within the DCC App (Apple Store/Google Play Store)! This digital Lent Pocket Companion includes a Spotify playlist; Confession, Rosary, and Stations of the Cross how-to-guides; prayers; Scripture reflections; and much more!

Let's walk together, step by step, on this sacred journey through Lent.

Jesus said to his disciples, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap, for the measure you give will be the measure you get back.”

Luke 6:38

Consider adding the DCC to your
Lenten almsgiving offerings

Lent allows us to cultivate a sacrificial spirit of generosity and charity. It allows us to share what we have and who we are with other people. It puts us in communion with others and helps us understand that we are all members of the Body of Christ.

If you have experienced the love of Christ through the Duke Catholic Center, we invite you to help make that same experience possible for others. By giving monthly, you become a partner in sharing Christ’s love on campus.

Whether it’s $5, $10, or the price of your weekly coffee, your monthly sacrifice supports Mass, small groups, music, retreats, and more for current and incoming Catholic students.

One of the greatest acts of charity and important ministries of all the baptized is to pray for the living and the dead. The greatest and most powerful prayer we have is the Mass, since the fruits of the Mass are the very fruits of Jesus' redemption. For that reason, anyone may have a Mass celebrated for loved ones who have died, or for the living who have some need or are celebrating some special occasion. This is an ancient Catholic practice, and all are invited to exercise it when it seems appropriate.

The DCC is now accepting Mass Intentions for our Daily Masses. Please note the following when making your Mass Intention:

  • Mass intention requests are only accepted through the online Mass Intention form (also available in the DCC App).
  • Mass intention requests are available for Daily Masses only and will be granted as close to the requested day as possible.  If it is not possible to comply with the primary request, the next closest date will be scheduled.
  • Mass Intentions are accepted up to 5:00 pm on Wednesdays for the upcoming week based on availability.
  • For each Mass request, there is a $10 suggested stipend, as determined by diocesan policy.

Please indicate your desired date and for whom the Mass intention is for in the 'Add a Note' box when completing your payment.
