Change in Mass Schedule Tonight!

Mass this Sunday evening (2/8) is moved to Goodson Chapel at 5:00 p.m. This replaces the regular 8:00 p.m. Mass in Duke Chapel. There is a Confession opportunity at 4:00 p.m. in the Goodson Chapel Prayer Room.
All other Sunday Mass times remain the same for this weekend.
Students are invited to join us for a Super Bowl party at the FAH beginning at 6:00 p.m. (kick-off is at 6:30 p.m.). We will have Not Just a Fry Guy food truck along with other snacks and desserts. Come to hang out and watch the big game!

Breaking Barriers, Building Bonds: 60 Years of Interfaith Dialogue After Nostra Aetate

This event marks the 60th anniversary of Nostra Aetate, the landmark declaration of the Second Vatican Council that transformed Catholic relations with Judaism and other world religions. The event will explore the enduring legacy of interfaith dialogue and the ongoing relevance of Nostra Aetate for Jewish-Christian relations today. This conversation will highlight both historical breakthroughs and contemporary challenges in interfaith engagement, inviting scholars, students, and community members to reflect on how barriers were broken and bonds built through dialogue, and how the lessons of Nostra Aetate remain vital for fostering mutual respect and understanding today.

Catholic Scientists: A lecture by Dr. Jonathan Lunine (California Institute of Technology)

Jonathan Lunine is the Chief Scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Professor of Planetary Science at Caltech in Pasadena, California. Beforehand, he was the David C. Duncan Professor in the Physical Sciences and Chair of the Department of Astronomy at Cornell University. Lunine is interested in how planets form and evolve, what processes maintain and establish habitability, and what kinds of exotic environments (methane lakes, etc.) might host a kind of chemistry sophisticated enough to be called "life". He pursues these interests through theoretical modeling and participation in spacecraft missions. He is co-investigator on the Juno mission now in orbit at Jupiter, using data from several instruments on the spacecraft, and on the MISE and gravity science teams for the Europa Clipper mission. He was on the Science Working Group for the James Webb Space Telescope, focusing on characterization of extrasolar planets and Kuiper Belt objects. Lunine has contributed to concept studies for a wide range of planetary and exoplanetary missions. Lunine is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and has participated in or chaired a number of advisory and strategic planning committees for the Academy and for NASA.
