Now more than ever

Catholic Dukies,

In these days of social distancing, now more than ever we are called to celebrate our connection to Christ in the Church. We know that you may find this time unsettling with all of the rapid changes and precautions taken by Duke and perhaps your home regions. However, we are united with you and looking for multiple ways to stay connected.

Due to the university’s decisions regarding public gatherings and our own concern for the health and well-being of our Duke Catholic community, DCC Mass is cancelled until further notice.

However, we will live-stream a private Mass at 11 a.m. on Sundays. We invite you and encourage you to celebrate with us virtually if you are not able to attend Mass locally due to regional restrictions on gatherings.

You will be able to find the stream on our channel at 11 a.m. Eastern time on Sunday. The video will also be posted on our channel immediately after the stream concludes for you to view whenever convenient.

We invite you to join us for the entirety of the Mass, just as you would on Sunday at Duke. To encourage a sense of connection, we will be having students participate remotely as lectors and musicians (where/when possible). And we encourage all participants to make an Act of Spiritual Communion during the communion moment of the live-stream. (We will include the special prayer in the description box of each live-stream.)

Lastly, we are exploring creative ways to keep our Duke Catholic community connected over these coming weeks. Stay tuned! While we know this is a time of limited social interaction, we also trust that the Spirit can work incredible goodness through any situation. We hope you will find this time an opportunity to grow deeper in your relationship with Jesus. Bring Him your worries, your frustration, your boredom; ask Him to bring you His peace.

My soul, be at rest in God alone, from whom comes my hope. God alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not fall. My deliverance and honor are with God, my strong rock; my refuge is with God. Trust God at all times, my people! Pour out your hearts to God our refuge!

Psalm 62: 6-9

Know that you are in our prayers and that we are always available for a FaceTime or Zoom call.

Peace,
Fr. Mike and the DCC Team
