Summer Service Trip 2017: Texas-Mexico Border

Details: We will spend a week in El Paso, Texas for the Border Awareness Experience offered by the Missionary Society of St. Columban (Columban Fathers). We will be educated on immigration through presentations from various groups, including legal advocacy groups, Department of Homeland Security personnel, and undocumented migrants and refugees. Our service will include cooking and serving meals for migrant families, as well as being present and listening to stories and testimonies of the experiences of refugees. Service will include daily or periodic trips across the border into Juarez, Mexico to interact with refugees. Passports are necessary, but Spanish language skills are not!
