Xander Nuttle
Xander Nuttle is a senior from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, pursuing majors in biology and biomedical engineering and a certificate in genome science and policy. In addition to his involvement with the Catholic Student Center, he works in an evolutionary genomics lab, plays intramural soccer, and enjoys participating in the pinnacle of fandom, The Cameron Crazies. Xander is excited for the challenges ahead as we strive to build a community of faith, deepening our relationships with one another while together growing closer to God.
Liturgy
Mitch Heath
Mitch Heath is a junior from Yorktown, Virginia, studying Economics and Public Policy. Mitch is excited to have the opportunity to work with a very motivated Liturgy team this year. Besides being active in the Catholic Student Center, Mitch is a member of Wayne Manor and works as a Research Assistant in the Psychology Department.
Faith Development
Kaitlyn Sanders
Kaitlyn Sanders is a senior from Greensboro, NC. She came to Duke planning on being a biology major, but is now much happier as a religion major. Kaitlyn is a Resident Assistant in a freshman dorm on East campus and a member of the Peer Advising Network. She is also a Lilly Scholar through the Pathways program at Duke Chapel and participated in their summer internship last year, working at Urban Ministries of Durham. After college, Kaitlyn would like to keep working in college or youth ministry, but is also trying to keep an open heart to wherever God calls her. She is very excited to be the student director for Faith Development and is hoping to cultivate a culture of prayer and holiness on Duke's campus.
Class of 2010 Representative
Carolyn Powell
Carolyn Powell, a senior from Richmond, Virginia, is a Biology major and Chemistry minor. After graduation, she hopes to attend veterinary school. She spent the fall semester abroad in South Africa studying savanna ecology and conservation. She has also had the opportunity to participate in two of the Newman Center's mission trips to Nicaragua and Guatemala. Outside the Catholic Student Center, she is a member of the Duke Habitat for Humanity club, and she volunteers at the Durham County Animal Shelter.
Class of 2011 Representative
Anne Marie Gordon is a junior from Richmond, Virginia. She plans to double major in Public Policy Studies and Spanish, and hopes to use them both in her yet-to-be-determined career path. She will also serve as Rector for Duke Awakening 12 this spring. Anne Marie is a pole vaulter on the varsity track & field team and a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Last summer, she studied in Buenos Aires, Argentina and hopes to work with middle school students in Durham this summer with StudentU.
Class of 2012 Representative
Megan Weinand is a sophomore from Tucson, Arizona and plans to double major in Biology and Spanish with a minor in Chemistry. She hopes to go to medical school and perform research. Outside of the Catholic Student Center she is involved in SMART, a volunteer program that tutors and spends time with long-term pediatric patients in Duke hospital. Megan began work in a pharmacology lab this semester and in her spare time she also enjoys playing tennis, swimming and running.
