James McPherson is a second year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business. Prior to Duke, James was involved in education as a teacher, coach, and administrator, having cofounded independent Catholic schools in the Washington D.C. area. A native of Maryland, James was a Classics major at Johns Hopkins University, where he played soccer and basketball after Coach K never called. He received a Fulbright scholarship to study the Iliad in Lausanne, Switzerland. In his free time, James enjoys G.K. Chesterton and Hillaire Belloc, as well as the Red Sox. He and his wife Claire have a son, Charles, and are expecting a second child in March.
Matt Burke is a second-year MBA student at the Fuqua School of Business,
where he is pursuing a career in marketing. He is excited to be
co-leading the Fuqua Catholics club where he hopes to foster insightful
discussions with other faiths and learn about history, religion, and
where the two converge. Outside school, Matt loves sports, reading,
writing, and traveling and particularly enjoys searching out
combinations of those four. Matt has traveled to more than 35 countries;
in the summer of 2008, he capped off his pre-Duke life with an eight-day
road trip through Israel.
Hannah Reynolds is a doctoral candidate in the Biological Science department, is working on a dissertation on fungal phylogeography, and has been a Teaching Assistant for several biology classes. She grew up in Truth or Consequences, NM and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Kansas. She is looking forward to starting her fifth year at Duke. She is involved with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America and enjoys hiking, gardening, and singing Vespers at the Duke Catholic Center.
